How many of you remember Myspace? One of the first social networking websites to sweep the nation, the world even. Well, that’s where I got my first bit of visual design inspiration! I was 13 years old teaching myself HTML coding and creating exclusive layout designs for my friend’s pages. Eventually, word spread, and I began selling my designs! I could not get enough of it, but time passed, Myspace fizzled out and I instead pursued a career in Psychology with dreams of becoming an Ayurvedic Psychiatrist. I wanted to help people conquer their struggles using holistic remedies and the power of their own mind!

       The path has been tumultuous and along the way I have found beauty in so many different passions! I have spent years practicing yoga and meditation, oil painting, photography, crystal wrapping jewelry, singing, dancing and just enjoying the world in all of it’s divine magnificence. With each and every new interest I picked up throughout my journey, I began to realize that they all share one major characteristic. They all involve a certain appreciation for beauty and aesthetic, not only for the eyes but for the ears, for the body, for the mind, and for the soul. In the midst of all this beauty, also comes pain, anguish, and grief. Without these inner struggles though, we would not be capable of recognizing the contrasting feelings of beauty, happiness and love. It is these contrasting elements, feelings, people and passions that truly inspire me to create!

       I have been blessed enough to have been raised in two of the most extraordinary states in America, California and Florida, and America, when compared to other nations, has always been known as “the melting pot”. As a heterogeneous society, our culture is largely defined by all the many different foreign elements of our world fusing together and creating unity.  Rather than inspiring judgement, these differences intrigue me. Our environment, race, ethnicity, nationality, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression, age, marital status, political belief, religion, immigration status, and mental or physical ability are all factors in which influence our day-to-day experiences and predominately shape who we are and who we become individually. I believe our uniqueness should be celebrated, for this is where genius grows and new ideas blossom. When fresh thoughts are in bloom, society thrives and is capable of progressing in unpredictable fashions.

       As for me, all I want to do is be a part of that movement. I want to help people to express their interests, their perspectives, and their ways of making this world a better place using my visual design skills, creativity, and attention to detail. And what better way to express yourself and reach an infinite amount of people than through the web? I want to tap into the mind of that 13-year-old me creating web pages out of sheer enjoyment and curiosity for how to make things look and feel captivatingly beautiful, just like the rest of this world.
